“In recovery, your shape changes. In order for you to fit back into the rest of the puzzle, your life, the other pieces of the
puzzle must also change their shapes to accommodate you.”
Augusten Burroughs
In family systems where addiction or mental illness exist, family members usually play a role (intentionally or unintentionally) that contributes to the addiction or mental health dynamic.
Family members and those closest to the individual struggling are also the ones who can usually have the most influence on change.
To build a foundation for healing, we give families their power back. Our CRAFT-inspired coaching helps families realize that they CAN help, by developing the skills, strategies and attitudes that make understanding, helping and healing possible.
Family coaching with Doyen Consulting Group helps you find the delicate balance between taking care of yourself and implementing different ways of engaging, communicating and supporting your loved one, all to increase the probability of making sustainable change.
Family coaching also involves educational and emotional support via weekly, hour-long sessions that can be conducted virtually. These sessions are conducted by a Family Advisor who has been trained in CRAFT* and/or the Invitation to Change approach.
Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) is for families whose loved one is struggling with substance use, but who is also not currently open to changing or getting help. CRAFT uses positive reinforcement and positive communication to influence change. CRAFT also helps families develop awareness and understanding of what it means to take care of yourself and why this is important to creating change.
Our daughter was struggling greatly, and our entire family was in crisis. From our first call, Doyen did whatever it took to quickly get the right help for our daughter and for us as a family. They took the time to understand our daughter's unique needs and to build her trust in finding programs that were tailored for her. A multi-stage program has been needed for our daughter and Doyen has been with us every step of the way through this. As a result, our daughter is firmly on the road to recovery, after finally receiving help from the right professionals when many have failed us in the past. – Kim and John
We struggled for 3 1/2 years trying to find a solution for our son who was suffering through an addiction and trauma. Within 48 hours they laid out three treatment plans. They provided us with professional opinions, education, along with compassion and hope for his recovery. Their partners, relationships with treatment centers, resources and staff, put our son on the path of healing, while continuing to educate us on how to best support him. Their role was essential during each phase of the process and his sobriety would have never happened without them. - Martin, Kathleen and family

The Doyen Group does not give up! If plan A doesn’t work, they quickly try something else. Our son is on the road to recovery, and they are to thank for this. - Valerie F.
